CSCA Presents Timothy Goodman

Posted on by Om Nom Monster Studio

Drawn back to Ohio.

Behold the mighty Sharpie. Writes on anything.
Toys. Lunch boxes. Hotel walls.

Join CSCA July 19 as designer Timothy Goodman makes a permanent mark in Columbus.

For an artist who’s worked for Apple and experiential design firm COLLINS:, you’d think the lowly Sharpie marker is an awfully primitive tool. But in the hands of Timothy Goodman, CSCA’s July guest speaker, the classic pen was the key to some truly noteworthy recent work — from his Valentine Tweet Marathon (Google it; it will blow your mind) to his wall-to-wall illustrations inside New York’s Ace Hotel.

Of course, there’s more to Timothy than his iconic doodlings. He’s made permanent markings on many notable brands, including Microsoft (where he influenced store design), Motts
(packaging), and a long list of publishers (cover work for The New York Times, Newsweek and Metropolis, to name just a few).

A native of Cleveland, Timothy will describe his journey from scrappy youngster to drywall laborer to art student to traditional brand designer to free-form, freelance illustrator. As he’s discovered, how you design isn’t as important as asking good questions and telling a good story. And his is a
great story. Don’t’ miss it.
